TRAVEL

Traveling to Sopot

Sopot is easily accessible with various means of transportations. It has direct railway connection with many cities in Poland through the railway system. There is a direct daily train connection with Berlin and multiple daily connections with Polish capital  – Warsaw.

Participants who wish to fly, shall choose the Gdansk Lech Walesa International Airport which serves the whole Gdansk, Gdynia and Sopot region. Gdansk Lech Walesa International Airport has multiple daily connections with major European hubs: Copenhagen, Munich, Frankfurt and Amsterdam. It has also frequent connection with Warsaw. More information is avaliable at: https://www.airport.gdansk.pl/flight-information/where-we-fly-p3.html

Gdańsk Airport is located approximately 18 km away from Sopot. Transfer options are:

  • TAXI – Airport recommends Neptun Taxi https://www.neptuntaxi.pl/. (cost apx. 25EUR), but Sopot Taxi (apx. 20EUR) http://sopot-taxi.pl/ and Uber works well.
  • BUS – Line no 122 provide direct transfer, almost door-to-door to the Sheraton (cost apx. 1 EUR)
  • TRAIN – route from  “Port Lotniczy Gdańsk” to “Sopot” with change at “Gdańsk Wrzeszcz” cost apx. (1.5EUR)

Some useful information on transportation is available at https://mzkzg.org/

COVID MEASUREMENTS POLAND

Entrance conditions for Poland

to take into account:

See https://www.gov.pl/web/coronavirus/travel.

travellers need to fill out a passenger location form (see link above)

All participants should be vaccinated with a vaccine authorized by the European Medicines Agency. These are Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Janssen and Novavax. Participants from Schengen countries will not be checked at Gdansk airport.

According to actual regulations (valid from 2021-12-15 to 2022-01-31), people traveling from countries outside
the European Union and the Schengen area
must show a negative coronavirus test result before crossing the Polish border. See https://www.gov.pl/web/coronavirus/outside-the-european-union-schengen-area-turkey.

The test must be performed no earlier than 24 hours before landing in Poland. What matters is when the test result is obtained. This can be an antigen test or a PCR. It must be made at your own expense.

Airport Gdańsk has dedicated facility to make a test (both after arrival and before deprture). More information is provided here:
https://www.airport.gdansk.pl/lotnisko/aktualnosci/testy-zwalniajace-z-kwarantanny-na-lotnisku-n1964.html

Additionally the Sheraton Hotel has dedicated facility to make tests for hotel guests on place (for your convenience), but there are also plenty of labs providing COVID test service as well.

Institute of Oceanology has agreement with “Diagnostyka” labs, because of scientific activity causing intensive travelling. This company is the same providing service at the airport. Web page of e-shop offering RT-PCR test is here (in Polish, but easy to translate):

The results (with certificate in English) of test sampled in the morning are available till the end of day.
